What I Say:

Guest review by Gemma Hughes
I would like to thank HQ Digital for approving me to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The accidental honeymoon..... fab book from start to finish, loved the story and the fact it was written about a place that's not too far away from me. Reading this book after reading all of Portia's books and it's just what I expected from her, all her books have been brill.

What happens in Vegas.... poor Georgie never expected her boyfriend to cheat on her but waking up after a night in Vegas to find she is married was truly unexpected..........but who to? Going back home from L.A to her family in Blackpool a family wedding but will her husband reveal himself?? All these questions kept me glued to each page until I had finished the book.  An absolutely amazing fun story.

Only one way to find out, read the book I can assure you, you will not be disappointed!

Thank you, Portia Macintosh, for another fab read.

When it comes to actually writing something, and then actually letting other people read it, you realise quite quickly that you’re going to need a very thick skin if you’re going to succeed.
First up, if your work is being published, you’ll have to go through the editorial process, where multiple people will tell you everything that is wrong with that thing you’ve been pouring your heart and soul into for months. And you know it’s part of the job, and you know that these people know what they’re talking about, but it’s still tough to take.
Then your books go to reviewers – another very important part of the process – and for the most part their reviews are fair and they make very valid points. Every now and then though, you will encounter a reader who not only didn’t like your book, but they feel like they need to express this online, and they’re not going to pull any punches. When this happens, you remind yourself that not everyone is going to like your book, just like you haven’t liked every book you’ve ever read, but it’s still hard to read when they’re laying into you plot, your characters, your writing style and sometimes even who you are as a person.
The best way to deal with this is to just accept it, and learn to ignore it. You can’t please everyone and that’s fine. Read reviews if you want, but don’t get upset if they’re not great. They won’t all be great.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I put my book out there and ask for people to tell me what they think, but it’s a bit like asking your boyfriend if your bum looks big – you can’t exactly be upset if he says yes, can you? Actually, scrap that last bit. The answer to questions about how you look never be anything less than be amazing.

Author Info:
Portia MacIntosh has been 'making stuff up' for as long as she can remember - or so she says. Whether it was blaming her siblings for that broken vase when she was growing up, blagging her way backstage during her rock chick phase or, most recently, whatever justification she can fabricate to explain away those lunchtime cocktails, Portia just loves telling tales. After years working as a music journalist, Portia decided it was time to use her powers for good and started writing novels. Taking inspiration from her experiences on tour with bands, the real struggle of dating in your twenties and just trying to survive as an adult human female generally, Portia writes about what it's really like for women who don't find this life stuff as easy as it seems.

What is French for falling in love?

When Del leaves small town America to compete in a perfume competition in Paris, she thinks it is just the next step on her five-year-plan. It’s an exciting opportunity. What started out as just a dream for Del and her twin sister is nearly in her grasp. If she wins this competition, they are on their way to opening their very own perfume boutique!

Arriving in Paris, watching the sun glinting off the Seine and wandering the Champs-Elysees, Del discovers the most perfect perfumery she’s ever seen. Yet, as the competition dawns Del realises that whilst she might have had the best nose in her small village, her competitors seem to know more than she could ever have dreamed. This competition isn’t going to be easy…

Del has the romance of Paris to sweep her away from her worries, but as the competition heats up, so does her desire for that which she cannot have! If only the dashing owner SĂ©bastien didn’t smell so seductive, look so handsome and make her heart flutter like it never has before. They say love smells as sweet as a red rose in bloom, but Del would tell anyone that true love can’t be bottled – it’s beautiful and unique to everyone…even herself. With everything on the line for her future, can Del really let a little attraction get in the way of securing her dreams?
