Guest Post Book Boyfriends/Hot Men in Books by Louise Wykes

For my blogaversary I asked the question, Who is your Book Boyfriend/Hot Men in Books? I have some great responses, today Louise talks about her Hot Man in a bookbook.

Oh when I was asked to write a paragraph for Jo to celebrate her blogaversary about my favourite book boyfriend, I was faced with such a dilemma, how could I choose just one out of the many book boyfriends I have but ultimately I only had one choice?  I went for the book boyfriend I fell for the first time I read him at 13 and to whom I’ve gone back to year after yearever since and I still fall for him as deeply as I did at 13- his name is Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by the wonderful Jane Austen.

Yes, he is a popular choice but there is a reason he is still steals readers’ hearts many years after he was first written.  He is the classic brooding hero, aloof and distant at first but later shown to be a passionate man “In vain I have struggled, you must allow me to tell you how much I ardently admire and love you”  He is mysterious, intelligent, handsome, misunderstood, moral and unafraid of being mocked by a woman . He is rejected by Elizabeth at first but he is humbled and tries again which shows that he is willing to be transformed by love.  He stands up to his family for the love of Elizabeth Bennet and puts his own feelings aside for Wickham in order to save Elizabeth’s family from disgrace and who could fail to find that attractive? And even though he is a “proud, disagreeable young man” just imagine the size of the library that you could have as mistress of Pemberley?  That’s a man who wins my heart:

Happy blogaversary Jo and here’s to many more and thank you for asking me to be part of your celebrations and I look forward to reading about other book boyfriends and adding some new ones to my wish list!

Thank you Louise!
