Interview with Aven Ellis

Today I have the wonderful Aven Ellis stop by for a chat.

Hi Aven

Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed on Comet Babes Books today.

Thank you, I’m so happy to be here!

Can you tell us about Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista?
This is the story of Avery Andrews, a young woman fresh out of college, trying to figure outwhat her life is supposed to be as an adult. And it’s not turning out the way it’s supposed to, that’s for sure!

I love your covers, can you share with us who designs the gorgeous covers for you books?
I’m very lucky to have Christy Caughie at Soul Mate as my designer. She’s crazy talented, completely understands my vision and helps give an Aven Ellis book a specific look.

I am immensely proud to be one of your Beta Baes, can you tell the reader how we assist your writing process?
I love my Beta Baes! They are the best beta reading team I could ever ask for. This group reads my work as I write it. They share ideas, they give me thoughts on scenes, tells me what works or doesn’t, and are so incredibly encouraging and supportive.

We all know your love of Tyler Seguin, is there any other hot men that catch your eye and are they your inspiration when writing?  (Sorry Mr Aven Ellis, I have to ask) Um...I need to limit myself here, but yes, I have several hot men on my list. Hockey players are hotReally hot. I also have a thing for Henry Cavill, Benedict Cumberbatch, Prince Harry, and Chris Pine.

Do you have a favourite place you like to write and why?
Believe it or not, no. I can write anywhere, anytime.

What inspired you to take up writing?
I was a big storyteller as a kid. And I could make people laugh. Eventually I began writing little stories and have ever since.

Are any of your characters based on people you know?
I sometimes use visual inspiration of people, or a phrase they use, a drink they like, etc. in a book but my characters are all fictional and come from my imagination. But Deke Ryan, for example, likes to say, “Fair Enough” and that is what my assistant Alexandra says, so that’s a little nod to her.

Can you share a sneak peak at what you're working on at the moment(I love Nate!)
LOL Jo loves Nate Johansson, my hockey hero in the current work-in-progress. This is another Dallas Demon book, and Nate is the new teammate of Harrison Flynn (Waiting for Prince Harry.) Will Nate find love with Kenley Hunter, a confection consultant with a passion for chocolate and nothing else? Hmmmm....

Will there be any more hockey hottie books?
YES! I love hockey, and I love writing them, so I have two more lined up to write, with a possibility of more.

What's the worst advice you have ever received?
To write what is popular instead of writing the story you really want to write. I only write what my heart tells me to.

Who would you like to star in the film of your life?
I have no clue. She’d have to be pale, though, as my skin is the color of copy paper.
What's the best thing about social media?
Meeting so many wonderful people that I talk to daily. People I never would have met, but now can’t imagine not being a part of my daily life.

Have you ever heard a strange/different story that you thought would be great in a book? Yes—when doing interviews for my February release, Surviving The Rachel, I interviewed hotel sales representatives and my jaw dropped at some of the crazy stories they had for me. You’ll see one of them in Surviving The Rachel.

Tell us something about yourself that readers won’t know from reading your books or web page?
I got to kiss the Stanley Cup once! (This is the trophy for winning the National Hockey League championship.) When the Dallas Stars won it, my company had a Stanley Cup day and I got to touch it and take my picture with it. So Tyler Seguin and I have both touched the Stanley Cup, LOL!

Can you tell us about a day in the life of Aven Ellis?
Stand back, it’s gripping. I get up, get ready for work, get my daughter ready for school. Drop her off, go to work at my day job (I work for a sports TV network), pick child up, make dinner, spend time with husband and child, do bath, homework, etc. After she goes to bed, I get my workout in. Read. Then I’m in bed by 11:30PM. I write on my lunch break and weekends.

About The Author

Aven Ellis has been writing fiction since she was sixteen. She studied communications at a large Midwestern university, and after graduation, Aven worked as a reporter for a community newspaper, followed by a stint at a public relations agency.

But writing about city council meetings and restaurant franchises was not as much fun as writing for young women trying to figure out their careers and potentialboyfriends. So Aven got herself a job in television that allowed her to write at night. Connectivity is Aven’s debut novel; Waiting For Prince Harry and Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (New Adult romantic comedy) will be published next year.

Aven lives in Dallas with her family. When she is not writing, Aven enjoys shopping, cooking, connecting with friends on social media, and watching any show that features Gordon Ramsay.
